Godly Success

How many times have we missed the voice of God? He has sent some of us memo after memo of instructions and we have failed to wake up and listen, yet, some continue to disobey and will not arise out of spiritual sleep and do as God has asked. After periods of pain and failure we cry out, "God please help." Lovingly His Holy Spirit comes to reveal God's will once again and we are refreshed and renewed.

I know what the pain of disobedience looks and feels like. However, Praise the LORD! I have good news, you can begin again!! Let's rehearse what God told Joshua, it is concise and to the point. However, he listened and did not miss God. God is reminding us of His Word once again today. He wants us to like Joshua, to obey and conqueror.

Has God asked you to arise and go lately? I think of Joshua and I am amazed once again how God took an ordinary man and gave him the power to do the impossible. God is not limited, but we limit God. Joshua must have been frightened when God told him to take over for Moses. Many battles and many struggles lie ahead for Joshua so the only answer was to hear God and obey Him.

When Joshua obeyed God, it completely changed his life and made him a mighty warrior for God.

1. Verse 3 “Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have been to given you.”

How assuring this had to be for Joshua, as God spoke and said that I have ordered your steps and you will be victorious. When God calls, he provides and will not allow us to fail. He has already given the answers, all we need to do is possess it. The authority to rule, the authority to arise and go has been planned for us and when we set our feet down we are treading on a path that is laid out by God himself.   "The steps of a good man is ordered by the Lord."

 2.  Verse 5  “No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you.”

Joshua had seen what God had done for Moses and it was reassuring that God would do the same for him. If we will listen to God today He will do the very same for us. It is a matter of allowing the Holy Spirit to control and go ahead with His plans he has fo us. Our enemies will not be able to stand against us because God is on our side, as He was with Joshua and His people He is with us today.

 3. Verse 7  “Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right had or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go.”

If we are going to be strong and courageous we must obey the commands of God. There is no other way but to trust and obey. We miss God because we do not want to commit ourselves to a life of service. We can make all kinds of excuses and try to make ourselves feel better about our decisions to do it our way. Joshua’s instructions were plain; Arise and go and God would do as He promised. Staying in the Word and keeping the Word will bring prosperity in all we do.

 4. Verse 8 God reminds Joshua to "keep the Word in his mouth and meditate upon it and then do all that is written in it."

God's Word has told us that, "as a man thinks so is he." As we get this in our Spirit, Speak the Word, and meditate upon daily, we cannot fail. The Word is a powerful weapon against the enemy. Meditating on the Word will keep us in continual fellowship with God. The Holy Spirit gives us the power to carry our the plans of God for our lives.

 5. Verse 9 God commands Joshua to, "Be Strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

The word strong is translated Chazaq, which means courageous, valiant, manly, strengthened, established, firm, fortified, unyielding, and mighty; When God commanded Joshua to “Be Strong,”
he also assured him that he would not be alone, for He would go with Him.

He is still commanding you and I today to do the same. It is never about us it is about a powerful God that allows His people to have the strength, power and ability to make it through.

Joshua obeyed and he did great exploits for his God. If we heed these words given to Joshua, perhaps
others will remember you and I for our great exploits for God. Our life will be enriched and all kinds of prosperity will be ours.
Stop sleeping! Listen to God. Let us get up and Go!!

Blessings Joan
