About Joan

At the early age of nine Joan gave her heart to Christ. In her early twenties she began to search for the God that she was studying in the Bible, with much prayer and seeking on her own she found what she was looking for in His Word.
Joan Attended East
Joan and her family have encountered both tragedy and triumph; However, these experiences have helped make a difference in their life and in the lives of others. She says that one of the greatest joys of her life is the family that God has given to her; She and Denver have three girls and one son. They have seven grandchildren.
In her testimony Joan shares how she almost gave up on her future and walked away from what God had called her to do; and yet the love, mercy and forgiveness of God brought her through some of the most difficult times.
Joan knows what it is like to go through the fire of opposition and come out as a victor and not a victim. Her testimony is that through the ashes of defeat can burn the greatest fires of accomplishment, when we turn all of life's situations over to Christ. Her hearts desire is to communicate and motivate others by teaching God's Word and with God's Holy Spirit help to facilitate others to find God in all of His fulness.
You will be encouraged when you hear her story, she will challenge your faith to walk with God and help you to believe life can be a joyful and fulfilled journey, if we let Jesus lead the way. Below is her three daughters and one son.

My mom spoke to ladies groups a lot and I listened to her speak many, many times. She is someone who honestly lived at home what she taught other ladies to live in their homes. I saw my mother on her knees praying many nights very late after the little ones were in bed. I saw her studying the word and carrying it out in her daily life. I can't speak for the other three, but I can speak for myself and being the oldest I was taught by Mom to be the example to the younger ones. I believe that today (I am 43) that has built a lot of character in me. I am constantly thinking, "Am I the example that Christ wants me to be to others."
Mom went through some difficult times but I have seen God always bring her through with overcoming victory. I am so thankful that God chose to place me in the Buchanan family. Not only did I have parents dedicated to meet my needs physically but also spiritually. Since I can remember, my mom, Joan Buchanan has been a "woman of the Word," and has done her best to instill that in the lives of her children. We all had different needs. My prayer is that my two boys will see the character that is n my Mom displayed through my life as they grow in Christ. Than you Lord, for giving me a Godly mother.
Matthew Buchanan is our second child; he is now forty years old. He was born a Downs Syndrome. He has been such a blessing in our family. He loves God and he loves God's word. Matt has learned to read the Bible and quotes many passages from the Word of God. He has always lived at home and is still at home today. Matt loves sports and most of all he is a golf fan.All of the family loves Matt dearly and he in return loves each of us. I have never seen a more peaceful, even tempered, loving child.
I I was blessed to grow in a Christian home. My parents accepted Christ as their Savior before I was born. All throughout my childhood they taught me about their Savior and their faith. Although, both of my parents had a tremendous impact on my life, there
are some lessons that a daughter can only learn from her mother. Her witness and testimony are what brought me to the realization that I needed to make a choice myself, the choice to give my life to Christ.
I am so thankful that I have a Godly heritage to pass on to my four children. Because of my mother’s prayers,
and dedication to her Lord, all four of her children serve Him today.
I feel tremendously blessed that God desired to lay me in the hands of my parents. Before I was born they already had 2 girls and 1 boy (ages 12, 14, &18) and were not planning on having anymore children, but little did they know that at the ages of 38 and 42 they would be entitled to parent yet another child. Subsequently, they were thrilled to find out they were pregnant and have always considered that I was not an accident but a blessing. They raised me with the same love and values as my other siblings. As a result, I have the highest admiration for them and I am so grateful they raised all of us in a God centered home.
