Do Not Be Intimidated!
Jeremiah 1: 17 "But you, gird up your lions! Arise and tell them all that I command you. Do not be dismayed; and break down at the sight of their faces, lest I confound you before them and permit you to be overcome."
God gave a message to Jeremiah and told Him to obey and not to be intimidated or fearful by what his enemies would try to do. God spoke directly to Jeremiah and gave him a command to press forward with faith and not be afraid by what he saw.
As we continue to read these verses we get a sense that there is a battle taking place and God is giving Jeremiah these encouraging words to let him know that he will not be alone. God speaks to the prophet in verse 18 saying that He has made him a fortified city, an iron pillar and a bronze wall against the whole land. God was going to give him supernatural strength which no threatening power would ever be able to conqueror.
Believe me, there will always be an apposing side in whatever God tells us to do. However, we have the power of the Holy Spirit to overcome; of course, we have an enemy that does every thing he can to stop us from doing God's will. I know what it is like to forge ahead in faith and then have people deliberately seek to intimidate you with words or actions, after God has already spoken in your heart. Remember, God said, “Do not be dismayed.” To give up will bring correction from the Lord. Whatever their motives, nonetheless, it is a spirit that tries to frighten us so we will give up. There is an adversary that hates God and will do what he can to redirect our focus. Satan works diligently to use anyone or anything, sometimes it can be the most least expected one. Stay alert to His devices!
God would say to His people this day, "Get up, keep the full armor of God on and go forward in my plans, not yours or mans, then you will have His divine favor"
In closing let us not forget verse 19, “They will fight against you, but they shall not prevail against you. For I AM with you, says the LORD, to deliver you.” Now that is a promise from God the Great I AM, receive it today. Whatever God ask of us we must just do it! He will shelter with protection and every enemy will have to answer to God when touching God’s anointed. If we do not obey God, sooner or later we will have to pay some very serious consequences!
I have been there and done that.
Blessings Joan
