Joan's and my friendship began about 25 years ago when her husband, Denver became the interim pastor at our church, Oak Grove Baptist Church in Nacogdoches, TX. Joan and I have continued our friendship even though she and Denver have traveled all over the country ministering. She and I have traveled at various times ministering together.
My husband and I both love our Lord and serve Him. My husband is a deacon at our church and we have worked with the university students for about 30 years, and are now serving with the young marrieds at our church. He has been a professor at SFA Universtiy for 40 years, and I have just retired as a public school teacher. I tell you these things just to let you know a little about who I am.
Joan has a passion for Jesus, and is an anointed, gifted teacher of the Word. She is a woman of faith who loves ministering Jesus out in the marketplace. I'm confident you will find her to be a real asset to the ministry of your church.

Joan I miss your teachings at our seminars we have had in Livingston, Woodville, Mt Pleasant, Conroe and other places. I also enjoyed doing the music for you; each meeting was a blessing. We all love the Lord so much, and we had so much fun praising the Lord together.
You teach the Word so well and with such a fulness of God's Spirit, I enjoyed every minute of it. I am still doing a lot of singing in different places, praying for God to lead and guide me in his will.

I am writing a letter of recommendation for Joan Buchanan. I have been a personal friend of hers for over ten years now. She and her husband Denver were my pastors at one point for a short time. Her zeal for the Lord and passion for the Word of God sparked a hunger and thirst within me that has yet to be quelched or stiffled.
Joan has been influencial in the spiritual lives of all those around her. She loves the Lord and she loves people. One of her main goals in teaching is to help people grow and mature in the things of God.
Joan has mentored many people who, like myself, have grown up spiritually to be placed in leadership positions, which speaks loudly of her maturity.

I am delighted to recommend Joan Buchanan as a teacher of the Word of God. I always looked forward to attending her classes. And I sure miss her. I became aware of Joan's many wonderful Godly characteristics. First, it is obvious she studies the Word and she loves the Word and God and others. She is passionate about this; the love of God for others just flows out of her.
Joan is extremely sensitive and caring to others. She most definitely leads her class but she is an awesome listener as well. She is a humble teacher. She invites her class to join in. She doesn't preach at you. She teaches the Word, but she continues to learn and listen at the same time. To me, this is the sign of a very mature Christian. Anyone would be blessed to be under her teaching.
